Embedded Software Engineer/Designer/Architect
Job description
Introduction
Are you an experienced Embedded Software Engineer, Software Designer, or Software Architect looking to work on the next generation of high-tech systems?
Join an internationally operating high-tech engineering company where you'll contribute to complex R&D projects in industries such as semiconductor, high-tech machine building, medical technology, analytical instrumentation, and industrial automation. Depending on your experience and ambitions, you'll work as an Engineer, Designer, or Architect on innovative products that are developed from concept to production.
Whether your expertise lies in low-level embedded software, software architecture, or designing complete software solutions, you'll become part of multidisciplinary teams where software, electronics, mechanics, and systems engineering come together to solve complex technical challenges.
Your Responsibilities
Depending on your experience, you'll take ownership of one or more of the following responsibilities:
-
Design, develop, and maintain embedded software in C/C++ for complex high-tech systems.
-
Design scalable software architectures for embedded platforms and distributed systems.
-
Develop software ranging from low-level drivers and hardware abstraction layers to application software.
-
Work closely with hardware, electronics, systems, and test engineers to integrate complete embedded solutions.
-
Perform board bring-up, debugging, testing, and system validation.
-
Design and implement communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, BLE, or MQTT.
-
Contribute to software quality through automated testing, CI/CD, and code reviews.
-
Guide technical decisions, mentor engineers, and support customers in solving complex engineering challenges.
Company Profile
You will join an internationally operating high-tech engineering organization based in the Brainport Eindhoven region. With more than 1,000 engineers across multiple international locations, the company develops advanced technological solutions for customers worldwide.
Projects are carried out in industries such as semiconductor, medical technology, analytical instrumentation, industrial automation, automotive, and high-tech machine building. Engineers are involved throughout the complete product lifecycle, from concept and system architecture to embedded software, electronics, system integration, testing, and production support.
The organization is currently expanding its software activities and is building multidisciplinary software teams that work on technically challenging, project-based assignments. Engineers are encouraged to take ownership, share knowledge, and continuously develop themselves within an open and collaborative engineering culture.
Your Profile
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
-
At least 5 years of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer, Software Designer, or Software Architect.
-
Strong experience with Embedded C and/or Modern C++.
-
Experience with embedded systems, hardware-software integration, and debugging.
-
Experience with Embedded Linux, RTOS, or both.
-
Experience designing software architectures or leading technical decisions is considered a strong plus.
-
Familiar with communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, BLE, or MQTT.
-
Experience with board bring-up, driver development, hardware abstraction layers, or embedded security is considered an advantage.
-
Experience within high-tech, semiconductor, machine building, medical, or automotive environments is preferred.
-
You enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams and are eager to solve challenging engineering problems.
Can't tick every box, but do you recognize yourself in this role? We'd still love to receive your application!
What We Offer
-
Gross monthly salary between €6,000 and €8,500, depending on your experience and level (Engineer, Designer, or Architect).
-
The opportunity to work on technically challenging R&D projects for leading international technology companies.
-
Plenty of room for technical ownership, innovation, and personal development.
-
Hybrid working possibilities and flexible working hours where project activities allow.
-
Travel allowance, pension scheme, laptop, and mobile phone.
-
A collaborative engineering culture where knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous learning are central.
-
Clear opportunities to grow into technical leadership or software architecture roles while working alongside highly experienced engineers.
